A place of art, history and light
Le Pigonnet, a former artists’ and writers’ hamlet designed in the 18th century as a “folie” – a summer residence surrounded by large wooded gardens – is a two-hectare estate nestled in the heart of Aix-en-Provence.
Just a stone’s throw from the Cours Mirabeau, this hotel, opened in 1924, vibrates like a lively Provencal village, welcoming painters, musicians, poets and lovers of the South for a century.
Barbara, César, Clint Eastwood, Juliette Gréco and Serge Gainsbourg have found refuge, inspiration or respite here, in the shade of the umbrella pines.
Legend has it that Cézanne set up his easel here, facing his favorite subject: Mont Sainte-Victoire.
