Cuir de Russie dropper
After the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, many Russians emigrated to Western Europe. Tales about the deep interior of heavily forested areas began to spread in France – tales similar to the Slavic beliefs about forests. The influence of these stories extended all the way to the perfume industry. In 1921, Julien-Joseph Godet produced his own version of cedar and sandalwood borrowed from the abstract cloud of a smokehouse. A comforting aroma of vetiver combines with the excitement of benzoin and clove, a hallmark of sensuality and elegance.
